The Wizard of Oz Audition Information & Materials

Middle and Elementary School Auditions will be December 1 at 4:30 in the auditorium. Auditions are open to all students grades 4-8. Please prepare the vocal selection "The Wicked Witch is Dead" found below. Middle and Elementary students do not need to prepare any scenes. Click the button to find your audition form - bring this with you on December 1! You do not need to fill out the online audition form.

High School Students: If you missed HS auditions, it's not too late to be a part of the show! Come to the auditorium at 4:00 on December 1 for a 10 minute audition to be part of the ensemble! Email Mrs. Nobile at [email protected] to sign up or with questions.

Character Descriptions

DOROTHY GALE: female. Young Kansas girl, earnest, expressive, and strong-willed, in search of something more.
HUNK / SCARECROW: male/female. Plucky and clever in a pinch, even while lacking a brain. Acrobatic skills a bonus!
HICKORY / TIN MAN: male/female. Desperate for a heart. A kind-hearted romantic.
ZEKE / COWARDLY LION: male/female. A mix of bravado and cowardice. Cuddly actor with excellent comic timing.
ALMIRA GULTCH / WICKED WITCH OF THE WEST: female. Character villain with an over-the-top stage presence. Excellent comic actress, has a killer cackle. Non-Singing role.
PROFESSOR MARVEL / THE WIZARD: male. Older father figure with an eccentric flair. Basic conjuring or sleight of hand a bonus. Non-Singing role.
GLINDA: female. Glinda is the Good Witch of the North. Benevolent and beloved.
AUNT EM: female. Aunt Em is demanding, but loves her niece. Non-singing role.
UNCLE HENRY: male. Dorothy’s pleasant uncle. Non-singing role.

Ensemble Parts include Munchkins, Citizens of the Emerald City, Winkies, Flying Monkeys, and Jitterbugs. Solo lines and dance features will be assigned during rehearsals.
If you are interested in playing Aunt Em, Uncle Henry, or would like to be considered for solo lines and bit parts, please include that on your audition form!
